Buchujeon (부추전)

Traditional Korean pancakes made from a ready pancake mix with aromatic garlic green onion. Served hot with a spicy dipping sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Korean pancake mix
- 85 g green onion
- 0.25 pcs onion
- 1 cup water
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp vinegar
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 1 pinch black pepper
- 1 tbsp gochujang
- 0.5 tsp sugar
- 0.75 cup flour
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp rice flour
Steps

Step 1: Cut the green onion into pieces about 5 cm long, and thinly slice the onion.

Step 2: In a large bowl combine the Korean pancake mix, 1 cup cold water, soy sauce, salt, and a pinch of black pepper. Mix until a smooth liquid batter forms.

Step 3: Add the chopped green onion and onion to the batter, and gently mix.

Step 4: Heat a non‑stick skillet, add 1 tbsp vegetable oil, and fry a portion of the batter, spreading it into a thin round layer. Cook until light golden on both sides.

Step 5: For the sauce, combine gochujang, soy sauce, vinegar, 1 tbsp water, sugar, and a pinch of black pepper until smooth.

Step 6: Serve the hot pancakes with the prepared sauce.
